Hi All….
Happy New Year to all my lovely readers and followers out there. Thanks for your support all these years .It's going to be an exciting 2015. Praise God

I often get people asking me to send them a list of things they need when their starting out freelancing in makeup artistry. So I decided to do this post. Trust me it’s a lengthy one so please don’t get bored .

Section of my makeup kit / Set up work
These are favorites and staples in my kit . I’m still trying new products though but can I talk more about these ones since I’ve used and still using them. They are certainly not the ultimate. All are based on personally preferences . Feel free to add more if need be.

  FACE

  • ·       Facial Wipes - always start makeup application with a clean face. You can also use it to clean your hands and product when need be.

¨     Fav - Johnson's Baby Wipes

  • ·       Moisturizer -Is very necessary for all skin tones to use moisturizer including oily skin. Be mindful of sensitive skin too.

¨     Fav – City Color Face Primer , ELF Primer (Mineral Infused, Poreless & Hydrating),Monistat Chafing Gel , Rimmel , Eve Pearl

  • ·       Mattifier/Antishine  - these are great for oily skin. It’s mostly used at areas where you often get oily like the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cupids bow and your chin. The names are used interchangeably.

Primers

  • ·       Foundation – I personally love cream foundations in my kit and those in a palette. I always tell my friends it’s always best to spend more on foundation to achieve better results. Creams ensure full coverage however they can be sheered out to medium or even sheer coverage with a moisturizer or mixing medium.

  •       Correctors /Concealers – I have a detailed post on that. Check here …

¨     Fav – BH Cosmetics 6 hole palette, City Color Corrector palette, La Girl Pro Conceal, La Colors Stick Concealers, Black Opal , MAC .

La Girl Pro Conceal

  • ·       Powders – You need to set your makeup with powder always. I personally love loose powders for setting and pressed powders for touch ups.

¨     Fav (Loose ) – Black Opal Powders , La Colors , Ben Nye (both luxury and translucent ) , Sacha Buttercup (amazing for highlight for medium -deep skin)
¨     Fav (Pressed ) – Sacha Face Palette ( 10 amazing face powder ) ,Black Radiance (real dupes for MAC MSFs) , BH Studio Pro Matte Powder (dupe for MAC Studio Fix Powder) , MAC MSFs, Graftobian Powders (comes in palette too) – see the review here ..

Concealers & Correctors / Foundation Palette / Loose Powder

  • ·       Blush – they add color and warmth to any look. Get a mixture of matte and shimmer.

¨     Fav – BH Blushes (comes in a palette form , very handy ), La Femme Blushes (can be customized), Jordana Blushes  , City Color Intense Quad

Blush / Foundation & Concealer Palettes

  • ·       Bronzers /Highlight / Contours – Bronzers add warmth to the face , highlight brings forward the facial features you want to show, any powder which is two to three shade lighter than your skin tone can be used . Contours recede and bring dimension to the face and it can be done with any matte powder which is 2 to 3 shades darker than your skin. Special kit has also been designed for this purpose.

¨     Fav – City Color Contour Effects kit ( it’s a beginner friendly palette with pictorial instruction on how to achieve the perfect contour), Sleek Contour kit , Cover Girl Bronzer , Matte dark purple eyeshadow (great for deep skin tones) , City Color Timeless Quad (comes in a palette form)

Powders / Bronzers

  • ·       Setting /Refreshing Sprays – Just the names imply , they set your makeup to last the whole day.

¨     Fav – Skindinavia , City Color All-Set , MAC Fix + , ELF Mist & Set

Below are some other important stuff you can also consider to add

¨     Fav – MAC fast Response , MAC Liner Filler ,

  • ·       Toner – used after facial cleasning

¨     Fav – Witchhazel
